About the Online Candidate Filing Portal
The portal allows candidates to start the Candidate Filing process and download many of the required documents, prior to filing the documents at the Registrar of Voters’ office. This service will benefit you, the candidate.  Candidate Filing cannot be totally completed online due to State law, but it should make your filing process simpler and easier to understand. Benefits to the candidate include:

When incumbents do not file for re-election the filing period is extended.

SANTA ANA, CA - The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until March 14, 2018, 5:00 p.m. for the offices listed below because the incumbent failed to file Nomination Papers by the March 9, 2018 deadline.

Any qualified person, other than the incumbent, can now file the Nomination Papers until March 14, 2018, 5:00 p.m., in the office of the Registrar of Voters, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, California. 

Business hours are:
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

When incumbents do not file for re-election the filing period is extended.

SANTA ANA, CA - The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until December 11, 2019, 5:00 p.m. for the office listed below because the incumbent failed to file Nomination Papers by the December 6, 2019 deadline.

Any qualified person, other than the incumbent, can now file the Nomination Papers until December 11, 2019, 5:00 p.m., in the office of the Registrar of Voters, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, California. 

Business hours are:
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Filing online will allow candidates to stay safe and healthy - candidate filing will begin Monday, July 13, 2020.

SANTA ANA, CA – June 25, 2020 – In preparation for candidate filing under COVID-19 restrictions, the Orange County Registrar of Voters is encouraging electronic filing options for candidates who wish to run for office in the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election. Candidate filing begins on Monday, July 13, 2020 at 8:00 am and concludes on August 7, 2020 at 5:00 pm.

SANTA ANA, CA -  Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:00am - The Secretary of State has announced that the nomination period has been extended until 5:00 p.m. on March 16, 2022 for the voter-nominated federal and state offices listed below that represent Orange County voters because the eligible incumbents failed to file Nomination Papers by the March 11, 2022 deadline.
