New technology will allow voters to receive instant ballot status notifications when a ballot is deposited into a drop box

Date:

SANTA ANA, CA – February 23, 2022 – The Orange County Registrar of Voters will pilot a new ballot tracking feature that will be available at select ballot drop boxes throughout Orange County beginning with the June 7, 2022 Primary Election.

Use Your Voice for Voter's Choice
The Registrar of Voters wants Orange County voters to tell us what you think about how we conduct elections and how we might improve access to voting. In 2025, we are reviewing and updating our Election Administration Plan, including voter education and outreach,Vote Centers and Ballot Drop Boxes, language and accessibility services, security and contingency plans.

May 18, 2016 - Sample ballots are mailed out daily to voters throughout Orange County. But why are these mailings continuing daily? We mailed 1.5 million sample ballots on April 28th. These were mailed to registered voters throughout the County in advance of our mailing of vote-by-mail ballots. What happens daily now are mailings to new voters and voters who have re-registered. Voter registration closes on May 23rd, so every new registered voter through the 23rd must receive a sample ballot. These mailings will continue through next week.

June 2, 2016 - Here's an important news flash - a new law in California allows voters to mail their ballot on Election Day. In the past, ballots had to be received "on or before" 8 p.m. on Election Night. Now, voters running late, can drop their ballot in the mail on Election Day and it will still count. An important caveat - it must be postmarked (or dated) on or before Election Day, and received in our office via mail delivery, within 3 days (by Friday, June 10, 2016) in order to be counted.
