Extension of Candidate Filing Period for the Presidential General Election

When incumbents do not file for re-election the filing period is extended.


SANTA ANA, CA - The Registrar of Voters announced today that the nomination period has been extended until August 17, 2016, 5:00 p.m. for the offices listed below because the incumbent failed to file Nomination Papers by the August 12, 2016 deadline.

Any qualified person, other than the incumbent, can now file the Nomination Papers until August 17, 2016, 5:00 p.m., in the office of the Registrar of Voters, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, California. 

Business hours are:
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Orange County Voting Systems to be Checked for Accuracy

Test to take place in preparation for Presidential Primary Election


SANTA ANA, CA - Accuracy testing of Orange County's voting system will take place Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. for the June 7, 2016 Primary Election.

The Logic and Accuracy test is required by law to be performed prior to each election. Logic and Accuracy tests will include proofing the programming of the ballot, each ballot style and each contest position on the ballot. All previous tests of the voting system have proven it to be 100% accurate.

The process is open to the public.

Presidential Primary Vote-by-Mail Application Deadline Approaching

Deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot on Tuesday


SANTA ANA, CA - The Orange County Registrar of Voters is reminding voters that the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election is approaching. Applications must be received by midnight on Tuesday, May 31, 2016. 

Applications from registered voters may be dropped off at the Registrar of Voters (1300 South Grand Avenue, Santa Ana) up to 5:00 p.m. on May 31, 2016. Voters also have the option to apply online (ocvote.gov/mail) until midnight May 31, 2016. 

Voter Registration Deadline is Monday, May 23rd

If existing voters wish to change their party registration they have until Monday


SANTA ANA, CA – The deadline to register to vote in the June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election is Monday, May 23, 2016.  Online voter registration is available, which allows new voters to complete the entire process online at ocvote.gov/registration.  Paper registration forms can be obtained at the Registrar of Voters, post offices, libraries and city halls.

Important Information for Voters Receiving Vote-by-Mail Ballots

No Party Preference voters should be on the lookout for their correct ballot


SANTA ANA, CA - Voters who have requested a vote-by-mail ballot (or who normally receive one each election) will be receiving their ballots in the next few days. These ballots were prepared for printing on April 23, 2016, which means if a voter changed their party registration, or requested a specific party ballot after that date, it may not be reflected on the ballot that they receive.

Poll Workers Needed for June Primary Election

Recent increase in volunteer stipend is an incentive to potential volunteers


SANTA ANA, CA – The Orange County Registrar of Voters is in need of poll workers throughout Orange County. Election Day is June 7, 2016 and hundreds of poll workers are still needed as Inspectors and Clerks. As long as an individual is registered to vote in California they are eligible to volunteer in Orange County.

Any qualified person, other than the incumbent, can now file the Nomination Papers until March 16, 2016, 5:00 p.m., in the office of the Registrar of Voters, 1300 South Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana, California.

Extension of Notice of Intention Period for the June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election

Judicial office filing extensions applies to three contests


SANTA ANA, CA - The Registrar of Voters announced today that the Notice of Intention (judicial offices of the Superior Court) filing period for the June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election has been extended until February 16, 2016, 5:00 p.m. for the judicial offices listed below. These contests are extended due to the incumbents failing to file a Notice of Intention by the February 10, 2016, 5:00 p.m. deadline.
The offices are:

Judge of the Superior Court, Office No. 3
Judge of the Superior Court, Office No. 40
Judge of the Superior Court, Office No. 49
