Media attendees will be able to see mock vote center set-up with new voting system equipment
SANTA ANA, CA – On Monday, September 16, 2019, the Orange County Registrar of Voters will provide a media preview to interested outlets of the County’s new voting system, which will be used for the first time during the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election. Orange County is transitioning to a vote center environment in 2020.
The voting system (Verity Voting System from Hart InterCivic) was approved for purchase by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.
Verity’s advantages for Orange County include:
- The Verity configuration for Orange County utilizes a hand-marked paper ballot system and does not ever embed voter selections in a barcode
- Strong security protocols, including white listing, encryption, two-factor authentication and redundant data storage to safeguard the sanctity of the vote
- Easy to use system for voters and election officials with plain-language instructions and consistently user-centric software and hardware design
- Full accessibility features provide an equal and independent experience for voters with disabilities (that includes an on-screen marking option, which produces a human-readable paper ballot)
- Fully supports Risk Limiting Audits for full transparency and accountability of election results
