Secretary of State Joins Registrar of Voters and Orange County Cities to Launch "Roadshow to Vote Centers 2020"

Monthly meetings designed to provide an overview of changes to voting in Orange County for the 2020 Presidential Election Cycle.

SANTA ANA, CA – The Registrar of Voters will be hosting a press conference on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:45 a.m. at the Irvine Civic Center to highlight the extensive planning and outreach efforts to transition to vote centers in Orange County in 2020. Also participating will be Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Molly McLaughlin, City Clerk, City of Irvine, Theresa Bass, City Clerk, City of Anaheim, and Adria Jimenez, City Clerk, City of Buena Park.

Orange County will be transitioning to the Voter’s Choice Act for the Presidential Primary on March 3, 2020. In addition to conducting public meetings as required by law, the “Roadshow to Vote Centers 2020” monthly update meetings are designed to raise awareness about changes to the voting and elections process by partnering with government officials, political parties, nonprofit organizations, and community advocates.

Following the press conference, Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley and Secretary of State Alex Padilla will provide an overview of the Voter’s Choice Act and vote centers, current local planning efforts, and an overview of what to expect leading up to the March 3, 2020 Presidential Primary Election. The meeting will be attended by Orange County city clerks and other government administrators who are involved with the election process, but the meeting is also open to the public. Additional meetings are being scheduled for language communities, disabled communities, political parties, and advocacy organizations.
