Candidate Filing Period Extended Through August 12 for Select Offices
Date

The incumbents in these offices did not file for re-election, which extends the filing period to allow other qualified candidates to file

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Aug. 8, 2026 – Individuals interested in running for select offices now have more time to file a declaration of candidacy with the Registrar of Voters because an eligible incumbent did not file.

New qualified candidates for the offices listed below can file during the extension period, which closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Incumbents in these offices are no longer eligible to be placed on the ballot in the November 3, 2026, General Election because they failed to file nomination papers for the office by the original Aug. 7 deadline.

Candidacy documents will be available Monday, Aug. 10 through Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Registrar of Voters, 1300 S. Grand Ave., Building C in Santa Ana.

The Registrar of Voters also provides a detailed Candidate’s Handbook with information about the candidate filing process at ocvote.gov/candidates. Additional online resources include a frequently asked questions section and a candidate filing log.

For more information, call the Registrar of Voters at 714-567-7600 or visit ocvote.gov/candidates
