Voter Registration Deadline
The voter registration deadline for the 2024 Presidential General Election is Monday, October 21 at 11:59 p.m.
You can register to vote online today at ocvote.gov/register. If you want to check your registration status, or if you need to make updates, you can do so online at ocvote.gov/verify.
If you are unable to meet the voter registration deadline, you can still conditionally register to vote through November 5 at any Vote Center or at the Registrar of Voters located at 1300 S. Grand Ave., Bldg. C, Santa Ana, 92705.
You may also conditionally register to vote online but must then go to a Vote Center or the Registrar of Voters to be issued a provisional ballot.

Can Only Voters Return Their Own Ballots?
California Elections Code permits voters to authorize any person to return their voted vote-by-mail ballot.
The person authorized by the voter to return the voter’s vote-by-mail ballot is required to:
- Write and sign their name on the ballot identification envelope
- Return the voter’s ballot to the Registrar of Voters no later than three days after receiving it from the voter or before the close of the polls on election day, whichever time period is shorter
The Registrar of Voters recommend voters only authorize a person they trust to return their ballot and then to verify that trust by signing up for our ballot tracking service OC Ballot Express, which will notify them once ROV receives their ballots.
If someone drops off multiple ballots to our office or a vote center, it is our practice to review the ballots to confirm the person dropping them off has signed the ballot identification envelope. But if the person authorized to return the ballots has not signed the ballot identification envelope, state law requires the Registrar of Voters to process the ballots.
We do not open the ballot identification envelope to access the ballot inside unless the voter’s signature on the ballot identification envelope compares to the voter’s signature we have on file with the voter’s registration records.
