High School Voter Education Weeks

September High School Voter Education Weeks are here! The two-week Secretary of State initiative aims to increase civic awareness in high school students and encourage them to register or pre-register to vote.

Our Community Engagement team has already visited several high schools to provide students with information about voter registration, the election process and the High School Student Volunteer Program. Staff presented to more than 1,000 students in just the first two days, with many of them pre-registering online at ocvote.gov/register.

In addition to partering with high schools to provide classroom presentations, our team will also be setting up lunchtime registration booths at several high schools.

To celebrate National Voter Registration Day the Registrar of Voters team visited Bolsa Grande High School to provide students with information on voting history, registration, and the upcoming election. Students had an opportunity to learn about elections, ask questions and pre-register to vote.

The Registrar of Voters team also partnered with Golden West College to setup a voter registration booth at their Constitution Day campus event providing students with an opportunity to celebrate National Voter Registration Day while registering to vote.

Election Integrity Takes a Community
Election Integrity Takes a Community

The Registrar of Voters will hire more than 1,900 members of the community to ensure the 2024 Presidential General Election is accessible, secure, and accurate. They are your neighbors, friends, and relatives.

The Registrar of Voters screens all election worker candidates from the community and hires them as County employees. We provide extensive online and in-person training to our election workers to make sure your voting rights are protected, and your vote is counted.

Our community election workers help us to staff Vote Centers, collect ballots from drop boxes, verify voter signatures, scan ballots, and audit the accuracy of the election results before we certify.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are bilingual in Chinese, Korean, Spanish, or Vietnamese, and who are eager to learn about the electoral process.

Responsibilities include attending required training, assisting with opening, and closing operations, and supporting voters throughout Election Day. For more information visit ocvote.gov/student.
